My mother first saw (and ate) pizza at the 1939 World's Fair. We have loads of pizza places here, with the market so saturated I've never seen a chain pizza except in food courts at shopping malls. Local wisdom claims there's no decent Italian food from Washington south. My friends who've moved to DC say so too. -M
