I remember being told that "liturgy" comes from two Greek words - laos 
and ergo - meaning that it's the work of the people.  As a priest I far 
prefer the contemporary rite which does have an interchange between 
priest and people to the priest-heavy 1662 (Order Two in our Common 
Worship). It's easier for me to celebrate.
