In the old days they used to dynamite ice jams. I can remember
hearing the thump-boom, as sure a sign of Spring as the robin's
call. Dangerous work.

I crossed the Susquehanna (on a bridge) a couple of weeks ago.
Such a pretty river. Yes, frozen.
