[Magdalen] TECnical question

In the Michigan State marching band, it was a tradition at home games to honor the visiting team by playing a stanza of their fight song in the pregame show. On one occasion some of the band members organized a scheme to get half the band to play The U of Michigan song a half-step lower than the other half, causing an ugly rendition to say the least. I understand those responsible were punished severely, just short of expulsion from the university.

Toying with fight songs is not on. The MSU song has a phrase against which the first phrase of Jingle Bells makes an amusing counterpoint. Woe to any freshman who discovers this and tries it out in rehearsal or in the stadium.
