One might be inspired by Charles Ives' "Decoration Day."
It's been a favorite of mine for years.
At Penn State, there was a bar downtown (The Phyrst) where the owner, his kids
and a few others performed (mostly folk songs) on Saturday Night
One of their "standards" was the Penn State Alma Mater, with the (somewhat
honest, actually) text.
We don’t know the g*****d words
We don’t know the g*****d words
We don’t know the g*****d words
Dear old State, Dear old State.
I think it was around 1979 that when the alma mater was played at a football
game at Beaver Stadium, the crowd overwhelmed the real words with the Phyrst
words, and PSU was assessed a penalty by the refs.
Gotta be careful with this stuff <g>.
Cheers,
Jim
