in re RC.... after Vatican 2, when the mass ended : "Go in Peace", and  the 
new to the phrase crowd said: "Thanks be to God".... I thought, 
sarcastically (teenager that I was who could not believe we had gone from 
'missals' to monthly, paper throw-away booklets for church) yes, indeed (and 
not in a prayerful way).

David - I am sure that there is movement toward changing the altars. The US 
church is now the strongest bastion in the world fighting to return to the 
good, old, holier, days - people in the pews and many newer clergy as well.
