Today is the average last day of frost for here, but that last several weeks
have been very warm.

It was well into the 80's here yesterday, but only upper 40's today. "Patchy
frost" and a low of 32 predicted for tonight. I have one apple tree (a Sweet
Sixteen) which has profuse flower buds for the very first time this year, so
we've been looking forward to its first apples this Fall. Fortunately, only
a few flowers out; most are still buds. Strawberries are flowering, but I
can easily cover them. Blueberries haven't flowered yet. Tomatoes, squash,
etc., are still in the greenhouse. [Frost when flowers are out means no
fruit, although the plants - talking perennials here - aren't killed.]

So hopefully no major damage. Gardening is always an adventure!

After a couple weeks with temperatures in the 80's F and heavy
use of the airconditioners, it's gone cold, and the current temperature
at 12:51 PM is 52 F. There's to be a low tonight and also tomorrow night
of 38 F, if you can believe the forecasters. It's enough to make me
nervous about already planted tender annuals.

Yes, I know the old saying about not planting before USA Memorial
Day (around 30th May), which this year is 25th May. Still, who'd
a' thunk there would be such a variation?

I'm staying inside today where it is comfortable. Sitting on the deck
for a cup of coffee isn't going to happen.
