I don't think it is an intrusion to post this comment on Capers FB page from 
her son Adam, dated May 17:


Update on Mama Capers: John, Caroline, Alice, Andrew, Laura, and I, along 
with grandkids Phoebe Ann and Kaleb, were with her and with Papa Walter over 
the last few days as an amazing train of cousins, colleagues, and old 
friends came by to visit.

Mama sleeps most of the time and has only the briefest of moments of focus. 
In those moments she tells us that everything is Ok and that she loves us. 
She is not in pain and is declining food and all but the smallest amounts of 
water.

Please keep her and all of us in your thoughts and prayers. Be welcome to 
come by the house in Charleston and hold her hand. The family wants friends 
to keep her surrounded by love and light
