Sister Sibyl writes, "that was during my computer-incompetent time of life," from which one infers that she is no longer in that period. Having seen some of the wonders she performs, I have no doubt that she has long since emerged from computer incompetence. OTOH, I find myself continuing to inhabit that time. At the moment I feel awash in incompetencies--of late what ever I put my hand to (save perhaps making English sentences) I screw up.
Earlier tonight I had a brief telephone visit with Janice. The planned surgery for stabilizing her fractured neck vertebrae is reportedly simple, brief, and almost always successful; it involves injecting glue. I also learned that she has THIRTEEN broken ribs. She asked the physician who is managing her care about her prognosis for recovery and was told "Well, if you don't get the flu that's going around, and if you don't get pneumonia, and if you don't fall and break any more bones, it's pretty good."
Nothing like a little mindless optimism to brighten the day!
