Eastern White Pine, (P. strobus) reaches its best development
in the Canadian Maritimes and the UP.  There have been champion
individuals of that species several times in the UP.
 
These pines were reported to reach heights of over 200 feet in the
days before lumbering and sawmills.   That gives the western P.  ponderosa
and P. lambertiana a run for the money.
