Well, the game IS football, in which head injuries happen all the time, so,
yeah, they obviously don't give a hoot about players' safety. You could
have a game of flag f'ball, which involves just as much strategy as the
bloodsport, but without the potential for blood, not many will watch it.
People go to auto races for the potential that someone will wreck.  They
will say, "Oh no... I don't watch because someone might be a crash, where
you see the parts fly in all directions, the twisted wreck on fire, the
firemen trying to get the driver out ... Oh no...."
