IIRC Advent used offer wine at "coffee hour" back in the 1960s. Certainly some
of the other Cardinal A-C parishes did -- StPKSt, St Mark's Philadelphia, St
Clements Philadelphia and St MtV in NYC. I don’t think any of them do on Sunday
mornings anymore, but I **do** know that wine is available at the social hour
after evening festival services at StMtV.

When I was on the Diocese of Long Island, we were extra careful when Bishop
+Walker was coming -- because he had ben in and out of rehab, stopped for drunk
driving and a whole lot of other stuff that often caused disruption in the
operation of the diocese. Some say his relatively early death after retirement
was related.

Walking on alcohol-related egg shells was not a satisfactory answer, however. It
sure didn’t seem to stop the Bishop, but it did make many of his flock feel much
better when they did their however small part to not contribute to his
addiction.

Cheers,
Jim
