Another solution to high heating costs is for more than one
denomination to use the same church.  This is unusual in
the USA, but the practical German mentality is such that it
is fairly common, and Roman Catholics and Lutherans 
(Evangelisch) worship in the same space.
 
One such arrangement is in Wetzlar, not far from Kassel.
The "Cathedral" there is also unusual in that it is unfinished
but is constructed of three distinct types of stone.
