In the early 1970's the long time Dean of the Eau Claire Cathedral
was still in place, and he micro-managed the parish.  This  included
putting a lock-plastic cover over all thermostats via which he kept
the Cathedral complex at bout 65 F.  The fading labels on the
plastic lock covers said, "DON'T TOUCH THE THERMOSTADT!"
 
Appropriate to his management style and his German last name,
