Harvard's system is similar, but they're called houses, not
colleges. First-year students live in dormitories in the Yard, but in the
second year they repair to the houses, which are self-contained  with their
own dining halls and small libraries and faculty (called tutors) also
resident. Many remain loyal to their houses long after graduation, proudly
wearing the house necktie at reunion, FX.
