A French language professor whose legal residence was in Fond du Lac
described several episodes of being hauled aside at the French border
because she told them when she was asked that he was from Fond du Lac
(the bottom of the lake), and the border guards thought she was being
sarcastic.
 
What was it about the UW-Madison French Department?  Another
professor there always took Holy Week off to spend that time in the 
"Holy Land" (Episcopal Diocese of Fond du Lac).  The Diocese of
Milwaukee was apparently just too low church.
