And he invited them to sing at the Vatican which they did. The Abbey
congregation also demonstrated to Benedict with their energetic hymn
singing, that you can have both choir and congregation strongly
participating in the Liturgy.
In any case, he could at least have suggested as the model of the
ideal choir the Men & Boy Choir of the Cathedral at Regensburg, Germany,
one of the few left on the Continent. His brother was longtime choirmaster
there. I can attest to that choir's excellence.
