This is a valid design feature.  The famous poured concrete  Abbey
at Saint John's University in Minnesota by Marcel Breurer was 
purposely left gray and plain, and the intention was to give the
color via the liturgies.
 
However, with the low church history of VTS, there will probably
not be any Solemn Masses with deacon/subdeacon/celebrant,
though I think they have graduated to chasubles.
