That is vound to be a problem in an area where the only soiund absorbent 
material is going to be temporary and transient (people in other 
words).  The worst worship space I gave come across in this regard is 
the RC Pro-cathedral in Dublin.  It's acoustics at a midweel mass were 
horrendous.
