Up here in the Diocese of Toronto, I'm a licensed lay reader. In recent
years they have tried to beef it up so that it means more than being a
chalice bearer, sunset clause applies, requiring that those interested
take courses and generally work their qualifications up through several
levels. I guess my adventures in Churchland have been worth something.
Thanks to my Dip LM, MDiv and all that I am fully licensed and preach
once a month I also write the Prayers of the People and coordinate the
readers and intercessors. All of this I have been doing for the last 20
years anyway.
