MGH didn't have an obstetrics department for twenty years at least, then
they re-instituted it.

Late one night a new cab driver brought a woman in labor to the MGH
emergency room. No obstetrician on staff, none on call. It worked out fine,
though. A happy historical moment.

Because MGH now has a fertility clinic and also a high-risk obstetrics
unit there are loads of twins and triplets born there. We used to time
going to lunch so we could pass through the main corridor to see the baby
parade as they were being carried out the front door. Makes you all warm &
fuzzy. Smiles all around.
