Martin's here expanded into the Richmond area by buying up the beloved
Ukrop's chain (and that didn't improve Ukrop's any, believe me!). Now it's
merged with Food Lion, which is owned by one of two Giant outfits that I
never can keep straight--there's Giant, and then there's Giant Eagle.
Martin's carries the same house brands as a regional chain I was familiar
with in Tennessee, Food City, which is owned by an outfit called (I think)
Tennva, or something close to that. We used to have Winn-Dixie in east TN,
but no longer do; they shrank back south.
