Eh as an ending to practically every phrase or sentence was highly prevalent in the Keewenaw area into the '70s.

I think the "eh" is more characteristic of Canadian English than USA
accents/dialects.

It's interesting that Labov of U-Penn claims that Canada is not
participating in the current "Northern Cities Vowel Shift".  The  other
group not participating in the shift is the AE=African American  English
dialect, even though a great many of this group live in the northern
cities.
