This is too bad, though OTOH, New England is a bit harsh for the
Crimson and the Harlequin cultivars.  I know they do not do well  in
Northern Wisconsin.
 
Guess Vermonters will need to plant Copper [European] Beech to get
the summer color, though once again the climate may be borderline.
These trees are a good deal more expensive, too.
