It's also possible to turn off ads by using the "basic html" option for Gmail. Useful for those of us with backwoods broadband. At the very bottom of the gmail page is an option in the middle for "basic HTML" - no ads, no background, no fuss. Also no chat, and no other fancy options. I prefer mail plain. Cady
