The Cloisters is a must for any visitor to NYC, I think -- and a great place to
go and spend the day any time.

When my more conservative friends )and relatives) would come to NY City, we'd
always take them to the Cloisters -- on a weekday of course.

It always gave them an opportunity to see busloads of public schoolkids
traipsing through and learning much of the Western (and a bit of Eastern)
Christian Canon from the guides.

"You can’t teach Christianity to school kids! It's against the law."

I always told them, "Not against the law here in Liberal New York."

IIRC, Gaynor McCartney was kind of surprised by all this -- reading the old
Anglican List she had the impression that America absolutely prohibited teaching
religion to public schoolkids.

Cheers,
Jim
