Another way of clipping the saints short is to ignore them completely.
This can easily be done in, of all places, the RCC, where some
celebrants avoid Eucharistic Prayer 1, which is the old Gregorian
Canon out of the Tridentine Rite, and has an extensive list of
saints mentioned. Other celebrants will use EC 1 during the
period around All Saints Day - better this than not at all.
RC clergy also have an apparent aversion to the Litany of Saints
that is properly part of the Easter Vigil. To me, this Litany evokes
a sense of the great continuity of the faithful and I treasure hearing
them evoked at this most holy time (Easter Vigil).
I think properly there are supposed to be baptisms and confirmations/
receptions when the Litany of Saints is used, but it's unusual in my
experience not to have these requisites.
Anglocatholic parishes where I have worshipped have included this
Litany.
