Just saw an article in the Washington Post about the return of a brood of 17-year cicadas later in May. This is Brood V, which is the largest brood in the area. Two years ago we were visited by Brood II, which I thought was plenty big, thank you very much!
I don't like them, hate having them flying at me or get tangled in my hair, but at least they don't hang around for very long.
Two years ago I looked in the bathroom mirror, and, staring back at me from my shoulder, was a big red-eyed cicada! Yes, I did holler and swat him off!
