I've managed high and "dry" from house flooding from rising water and unceasing 2 days of hard rain. Others not too far from me have not been as fortunate. A large bayou/creek continues to be enlarged and enhanced to accommodate all the continued development in my NW area ( to supposedly aid in flood relief) but in reality it is a monster when it rain here or especially north of here AND here. Many areas in or near downtown have been severely flooded causing major damage to homes and vehicles. Today's news said 5 deaths which is most likely miraculous considering how many people drove into water in the dark yesterday morning in the many flooded below street level underpasses. Whole areas of the greater metro area flooded that had never before - stats on water displacement formulas, miles of highways and acres of new subdivision developments frequently do not succeed even when the "formulas" say they should be safe and dry. The only insurance that covers damage from rising water is bought from the Federal government and people only buy that if they are in a stated flood zone. Needless to say the last 10 years have caused nearly annual modifications of what they call 100 year floods risk ( i.e. Once in a 100 years).

I gather from the BBC website that a state of emergency has been declared in Houston. There has been an awful lot of rain there in a single day. I trust Lynn is OK.
