I remember reading about the Ordination of Deacons >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I recall discussions about the singing role of deacons. Ormonde
always emphasized that deacons should do their traditional choral
part - chanting of the Gospel and the Prayers of the People, and
that once a year special: The exsultate at the Easter Vigil

Though he didn't go so far as some liturgists who flat out declare
deacons who cannot sing their given liturgical parts should not
be ordained, he leaned in that direction.

He maintained that deacons could and should be trained for these
duties and not be satisfied with their delegation to cantors.

In this matter I always agreed with him, and would happily give
up my usual cantoral duties in order to have them sung by the
deacons. It is always a thrill for me to encounter a Gospel/Prayers
of the People, and most especially the Exsultate, chanted by a
deacon.
