Around here, Weis and Gerrity's both deliver, and take phone orders.

With Weis (which is the one I use simply because it's only a mile away
so I've actually visited the store), I make my grocery list, then check
items on their weekly circular that look like decent prices of stuff
we'll eat, then phone the order in on Tuesdays (they'll do it on
Thursday as well, but I get a 5% Senior Citizen Discount Tuesday-Only
<g>). There's a $7 delivery charge and I tip the delivery person in
addition.

They charge it to my credit card and 2-3 hours later, the food is
delivered -- Shopping is done for another week!

There are some quirks -- of the three different shopper/delivery people
we've had, some are unfamiliar with the items I've wanted, and of
course, some items no one has ever heard of in Scranton (not at
Gerrity's nor Giant either) , so every so often on one of my trips to
NYC for chemo, I make a side trip to Pathmark.

And they're not really great at picking out nice fresh fruits and
vegetables -- always passable visually, but they don't know about
sniffing the oranges or grapefruit to determine edibility <g>. So that's
a matter of luck, mostly.

One advantage is that there's little or no impulse buying of stuff
that's bad for me <g>, unless maybe there's something mouthwatering in
the bakery Department in the circular. On our monthly bus trip to the
State Store for wine, I sometimes pick up a few items at Giant that I've
forgot to list and a few impulse items, like Smoked Gouda or some other
cheese I like. But because we're carrying 2-4 bottles of wine on the
bus, the supermarket items can't be too heavy.

Cheers,
Jim

PS I've always hated State Stores in Pennsylvania. They're more
expensive and have a lousy selection. I used to sample a bottle from the
NY Times weekly wine list -- never heard of any of that stuff here. And
NY wine becomes heavy on the Martz bus <g>.
