Then there are Episcopal Parishes that start Advent the Sunday closest to 40
days before Christmas instead of the Sunday closest to 40 days before Epiphany.
That means Advent starts around November 15. One Rector in a parish that has
done this said it gives then at least two weeks of a Holy Advent before the
Christmas Crazies (outside the Church) begin in earnest.
I, for one,like that concept.
Some of us of a certain age (and you know who you are!) remember that in the '28
and before, we had Sundays in Epiphany up to the point of the gesema Sundays. I
have not been a fan of a couple of weeks of a "green season" that has replaced
the old calendar.
And, of course, pre-pubescent choirboys always loved Sexagesema <g>.
