Actually, in the Upper Midwest USA, it is more the conservative  Lutherans
who consider the Masonic Orders anathema.  Such groups as the
LCMS and WELS will not allow members to belong to any Masonic
group.
 
OTOH, here in NE Pennsylvania where the population is about 80% RC,
the Shrine wouldn't be able to exist without RC members, and from my
experience, the RC clergy habitually look the other way regarding  
membership
in the Masons/Shrine.
