Flashlight in bed reader here too. Saved my allowance to buy batteries.
Also read by hall light if Mom forgot to turn it off. Constantly scolded by
parents for doing it--"You'll ruin your eyes!"--and vowed I would never
fuss at my kids for reading, even under such circumstances. I never did,
figuring they were the ones who would have to deal with the consequences of
being sleepy in school the next day. Funny thing, they did it and dealt
with it. ;->
