[Magdalen] Lutheran-Catholic Concordat.

I've never been refused Communion at a Catholic Mass.

Especially when I was in the service, I always spoke privately with a Catholic chaplain before Mass (I've been at the end of many Reconcilation/confession lines...) just to warn them and seek their permission, I guess. To a man they said I was welcome to participate and receive Communion.

There's the rule...and then there's the practice.

My thought has always been that I want to receive communion with anyone who wants to receive communion with me. I'm generally more orthodox in my religious convictions than many Catholics... and probably even more Episcopalians.

A Catholic priest blessed my Episcopal Church Service Cross (his idea).

Everybody I talked with in the U S military (at least in the Navy/Marine part of it) was pretty broad minded in those days. Mind you, I was a kid (17 when I went in...and looked about 13) and they were adults who probably felt sorry for me.
