Some men do comb-overs, some just take it all off, when they start
getting bald. Beard isn't affected by "Male Pattern Baldness." Maybe
they grow them to prove they're still virile, or something. My s-i-l
had very long hair for a while, then when he started with the bald spot
(very young for that) he went to the Take It All Off school. But he
continued to shave his face. I suppose there are some who go that
direction if they have to go into chemotherapy. Women are different.
Most of us never have to deal with baldness, unless it's chemo.
Fashions are strange, too. I don't know what's going on with Trump. He
has enough money to get the most perfect toupee ever devised!

Personally, I think the comb-over procedure looks ridiculous.>>>>
Though I have the typical balding area at the vertex of my scalp, I
otherwise
have done very well keeping my hair. I am the only one of four male sibs
to have done so. My father and brothers were all bald, and did the
comb-over.

I didn't realize I was balding up there until the mid-1970's when I
attended
a concert in one of the large Lutheran churches in Eau Claire. The O/C
was a good friend, and I met him after the concert at the reception. He
said that he knew I was there because he "could spot my bald spot." from
the rear gallery where he was sitting.

My surprised response was, "What bald spot?!" This was pre-Minoxidil.

Incidentally, thinning of hair, even balding, is quite common in women past
the menopause.
