When the BCP gives a blank for mentioning saints, we generally say,
"the ever-blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Anne her mother, Saint Michael
the Archangel our patron, and all your saints..." and I associate
"Blessed Mary, ever Virgin" with the confession that was part of the
old prayers at the foot of the altar, which we're not using nowadays
(our interim rector had us pray them in the sacristy).
