I understand the family was multilingual, including Yiddish and  German.
Yiddish is very much the same as German with some pronunciation
differences, and, of course, Yiddish uses Hebrew script.
 
 
 
David S - remembering neighbors next to the family home in Superior,
Wisconsin jabbering in Yiddish.  It's very distinctive, but  comprehensible
to those who speak German.
