My 4x-great-grandmother, Anna Seitz Huddle, had 18(!) children and raised
15 of them past infancy. She lost 2 in the first year of their lives and
another before the age of 5. A fourth died fairly young, in the teens, I
believe, but I don't have that information handy. I once remarked to my
mother (I was very pregnant at the time), "She must have never seen her
feet after she had that first one!" and my mother said, "And I bet she
thought there was no other style of dress but Mother Hubbards!" Still, I
have to admire her. She was one tough lady. She and her husband Benjamin
originally lived not too far from where I live now, but in 1828, with a
number of other families, followed her oldest brother, a German Baptist
preacher, to Ohio, where they settled in Seneca County.
I am related to Bonnie Kroll of big-Ang via Benjamin's grandfather.
