Some very good friends, a couple, met in Atlantic City.  The  younger
of the two was down and out, living on the streets, and found by
his older partner asleep and half-dead in the doorway of an abandoned
building.  The older guy (Robert) took pity, and brought him home  to
Pennsylvania.  He was enrolled in the best of the local drug and  alcohol
treatment centers, and the rest is history after some 40 years  together.
 
If Robert hadn't opted for an overnight gambling excursion to Atlantic  
City,
Ed would probably long since be dead.
