Interns at the Minneapolis General Hospital rode the ambulances back in  the
1960's, and on one such run, I was called to see a young woman who  was
having some "stomach upset."  She had actually been pregnant with  her
first child, and thought she was going to have a bowel movement.   Luckily,
this infant had gone breach because she had delivered the child into
the toilet bowl feet first in the water.
 
We finished up the delivery and the baby was wrapped in blankets.
 
When I got back to the hospital, the Ob Department asked me whether
this was a "sterile delivery."  I giggled to the effect that it was  about 
as
contaminated a delivery as possible being that the child was born in
a toilet bowl.
