Across the street there live two retired US Army drill sergeants  (husband
and wife).  In the summer when one or both of them are in their  yard,
they prefer to communicate by shouting rather than get within normal
conversational range.  It is amusing that you can take them out of  the
Army but you can't take the Army out of them.
