I was a career "Fed" but my job entailed a lot of contact with politicians,
both elected and appointed.  I knew some very good men and women -- in both
parties.  Some were people that the older of you might well remember.   I
also knew some that I would happily have avoided.  Some of these you would
remember, too.

That was a long time ago and I have the sense that I would not now enjoy my
job as much as I did then.
