Every time I do subdeacon duty I re-appreciate the concept of an
amice, especially as a protector of the vestments.

I was taught to wear the amice on my head while donning the rest of
the vestments, then pull it down to form a little starched hood in
back. Now it seems both of our priests do it differently: amice
doesn't go on head but stays close around neck. So I guess I look like
the sloppy one with the "unmade bed" look.
