Concerts at my alma mater, Lehigh, Univ., were held in Grace Hall, which was 
built for wrestling. (The basketball team also played there). The acoustics 
were awful - but, IIRC, for concerts I attended like Jefferson Airplane, it 
didn't really seem to matter a whole lot.   ;-)

I also recall a Byrds concerts held on the football field in which the EE 
Dept. was specifically "thanked" for the sound system. They clearly weren't 
even remotely up to the task.
