Probably any of these are better than the nickname used by alumni of  my
other Alma Mater: "The Golden Gophers" (UM-Minneapolis)
 
When the sports outlook gets bleak, and there's been a lot of that in  the
football arena, they tend to slip over into referring to the teams as  the
"Golden Goofers."
