[Magdalen] Dental prayers please

Well, it's done. I hope not to have another one any time soon.
Things went well at first. I had two Ativan before I went, the
nitrous oxide took hold, I relaxed and the surgeon went to work. I
was fairly oblivious until a jackhammer went off inside my skull and I
found myself hunched over my knees, heart pounding, hyperventilating,
shaking and tears streaming. Surgeon and aide holding and patting me
and asking what was wrong. Me thinking what does it look like is
wrong? Managed to whisper 'anxiety attack'. Asked 'did you stop the
nitrous?' Apparently after a certain amount of time they need to
adjust the mix to more oxygen less nitrous, I guess so the patient
doesn't die or some frivolous reason like that. She asked if I wanted
to stop and finish another day. I told her emphatically that I wanted
it done NOW. I got myself under control, I think she upped the dose,
I subsided and she finished up. We parted with a handshake.

The nuisance is that if I have to have this done again I may have to
opt for full sedation just for safety. If I had lunged like that at a
really bad time I could have screwed up the procedure.

It did occur to me later that I can apparently still do a sit up from
a completely prone position while semi-conscious. I guess I still
have some core strength left.

Afterwards I had very little pain. I did take a pill when the
lidocaine wore off and one at bedtime but nothing the next day.

Thank you for your prayers.

Susan

The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the citizen among
you; you shall love the alien as yourself, for you were aliens in the
land of Egypt.
Leviticus 19:34
