[Magdalen] Dental prayers please

Jim, thanks for the links, I also laughed at Painless Parker, but had some
comforting thoughts about the "outsiders" in the medical profession, or in
our case, psychology. These ideas are often not well received by the status
quo yet later on become the norm...

I also loved The Brain Lady and have bookmarked her site - very generous
with information and help. I especially liked the suggestion of
communicating the positive intention to the dentist; and being consciously
aware of the "positive energy" between dentist and assistant.

I'd never thought of that but knew instantly what she meant...thinking of
our former dentist Dr Slabber who always had a nice dental nurse working
with him. He was Afrikaans and I can still hear him saying to her: "Suier!"
which is that sucky thing they use.

Susan: Blessings on your procedure...the anxiety has value, to remind you
that this is an important step calling for a conscious response, but I pray
that you and it will float apart on the day.

I also had an implant, and aside from the expense would not be anxious
about having another. The procedure was not painful and was quicker than I
thought, allowing for some time to check all was well...it wasn't done by
our regular dentist but by a periodontal specialist who was horribly
expensive but extremely charming. Medical aid paid for some but not all of
the cost...Some "biomass" stuff was involved as I'd had a bad abscess that
had damaged the bone which needed to be built up. No problems with that
either.

Afterwards, I had to wear a plate for a three months and THAT was very
difficult for this super-gagger. I used to slather it with T-Gel (mouth
ulcer numbing stuff, tastes like liquorice), and when that stopped helping
(the last two weeks) I just gave up and went around with a gap. Luckily
most of that time we were away so I didn't see anyone I know.

I've been told that these days they can put the tooth in more or less
straight away though how that works I've no idea.
