Mike, I get that, and that's what I'm arguing against! Why do we need the Electoral College? Apparently it can disregard what a majority of folks voted for. How is that democratic?

No, the one with the most electoral votes wins.  Many a president throughout history has lost the popular vote but become president nonetheless.
