[Magdalen] Appliances was Medical update (& honestly, getting' a little scary).

Well, mine has kind of mauve-ish ceramic tile FLOORS that extend clear out
through the dining area, 12-inch tiles that I hate with a passion because
they show every speck of dirt. AND the countertops are teal formica without
any pattern! Plus the fact that the island, which I otherwise love, does
not square with the line of the floor for some reason.

The house was built by the contractor who lives across the road, apparently
with materials he, um, appropriated from building sites where he was
working. Also apparently without use of a plumb line. Nothing is *quite*
square. It's a beautiful house, but it has some serious peculiarities, most
of which I love, but a few of which drive me crazy.
